School Store – Volunteer in the school store once a month from 11:50-2:00 p.m.  It is a fun and easy way to interact with the students and meet other parents.  The money raised goes to the Student Assistant Fund.

Helping Hands – This volunteer position is on as-needed basis when Lamar asks for assistance with administrative duties. It is a great way to meet/volunteer with other Lamar parents while assisting our school.

Front Desk - Volunteer to help Ms. Axel in the main office assisting students, greeting visitors and answering phones. This volunteer opportunity ranges from once a month to once a week in morning and afternoon shifts.

Yearbook Pictures – Help the yearbook staff with student yearbook pictures.  For one week in the month of October, volunteers are needed to assist students in morning and afternoon shifts.

Tour Program – Lead tours for prospective students and their parents while getting to know the Lamar campus and the many programs Lamar offers.  Tours are held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon from November through April; tours will be held at 1:00 during Magnet Week in November.  TRAINING IS PROVIDED!

Registration - Help assist new families and students to register for the school year.  Registration occurs in the fall during the day and spring in the late afternoon/early evening.  Come welcome these new families to Lamar!

Homecoming/Tailgate – The PTO partners with student council to host a campus-wide event to promote school spirit at our homecoming game in the fall.  We need committee members to help organize the event.

National Honor Society (NHS) Induction/Arrowhead Society – Come volunteer for this special event as our students are honored for their academic achievement.  Help with punch and cookies one spring evening.

College Night – The evening of October 12, Lamar will host over 150 colleges to our campus who provide information to our students and the others in the community.  Join this team of volunteers who organize the evening.

Special Events – Special events occur throughout the school year to raise money for the PTO, Building and Grounds or Alumni Association.  Volunteer to assist with the events during these very special evenings.

Chick-Fil-ADo you have a junior or senior?  Help with this class fund raiser held during lunch on Mondays and Thursdays.  The money raised goes to the activities during your child’s senior year.

Hospitality – This committee is responsible for different PTO activities throughout the school year such as kickoff events and teacher appreciation luncheons.

Mentor Program – Come assist College Corner mentoring seniors as they look toward their plans after graduation.  Get to know and work with one student on the college application process throughout the year.  Or visit students in the classroom encouraging them to visit College Corner to discuss their plans with Ms. Ling.

Host a Foreign Exchange Student – Lamar has a wonderful exchange program which enriches our school and those families who host these students.  Choose to host a Chinese/Japanese student who visits for one week, or you may choose to host a student for one or two semester(s).

Web Team – Lamar PTO needs help with maintaining our website. Submit articles and photos of different school activities, or use your technical skills to help update the site.

Building & Grounds – This committee works to improve campus aesthetics and function.  This year they are focusing on the center courtyard and plantings for the new Gateway on the northeast side of campus.  Past projects included the Gateway on Westheimer.

Culinary Arts – Assist Culinary Arts teachers as a classroom teacher assistant, end-of-day cleanup, or organizer and chaperone of field trips.
